In 2009, Dan Graham created this piece called "Crazy Spheroid". Dan was born in Illinois during 1942. He practiced "diverse and innovative philosophy and culture." (http://www.decordova.org/art/sculpture-park/crazy-spheroid-two-entrances-0) In a variety of media, Dan focuses what it means to be a person distinct from others. He was a director of a short-lived gallery in New York City during 1964 to 1965. In 1976,he began creating environments instead of performances. Viewers of the pieces become performers and observers.
This sculpture is made of a two way mirror glass and stainless steel. The Crazy Spheroid is a walk-in sculpture that viewers can see there reflection but also see through the glass. At the sculpture park, this piece was in its own area with natural objects. I think if other sculptures where around it it would take away because you would see them in the reflection of the two way mirror. The color of this sculpture is transparent, this texture is smooth. The shape of the Crazy Spheroid is half of an ellipse. It is unequally divided into two chambers that have two door ways to walk into. As you look into the two way mirror, you can see your self but also see what is on the other side. When I look at this piece, I feel amused and interested, because it's different then anything that I have ever experienced before. This sculpture is abstract. As I was in the sculpture, i could see my self but very faintly. I could see the people on the other side more clearly then I could see my self.
